O-Licence Application Delays to be Reduced

The Office of the Traffic Commissioner’s (OTC) have announced that the revamped IT system, which is expected to cut the average O-licence application waiting time from nine to seven weeks, is planned to go live in the first week in August.

Prospective and existing operator licence holders will be able to electronically submit their supporting material, however the OTC will undoubtedly request some original paperwork to discourage and alleviate the potential risk of fraudulent documents being submitted.

Meanwhile, the East of England traffic commissioner Richard Turfitt told delegates at a recent transport conference in Cambridgeshire that a quicker response time than the [promised] improvement to seven weeks would require a change in the law.
